Day 2 on the Navigator of the Seas was a day of more great food. We ordered more of their great food on this cruise liner just to see what this ship’s best foods were. On the second night, I went with one appetizer and three entrees. I went with the Lobster Bisque followed by the Prime Rib, Fillet of Atlantic Salmon and Black Angus Top Sirloin.
The lobster bisque was pretty good. Although there were very little to no lobster meat in it, the soup definitely had a strong lobster flavor. There was also a tinge of butter flavor to it as well. The bisque was not too frothy but not too creamy either. It was one of those perfect in-betweeners.
The Prime Rib itself was good however on this evening they went with a ham gravy sauce to go with the prime rib. The problem was that ham gravy was very strong in ham flavored however it made the rib taste a little bitter. The ham tasting gravy contrasted the prime rib a little too much and actually robbed the prime rib of its good taste. An onion gravy sauce would have much better for the prime rib.
The Fillet of Atlantic Salmon was pretty good as well however I found it just to be a tad too dry for my liking. The fish we had the night before was juicier and softer and personally I liked that more than the Atlantic Salmon. The overall meat of the salmon was dry tasting and as a result it made the meat more chewier. If they had seared just the outside and left the inside more softer, it would have made a wonderful fillet of an Atlantic Salmon.

Black Angus Top Sirloin |
The Black Angus Top Sirloin was a mothball of a meat. The sirloin was a little difficult to cut and was just like a giant meatball. The meat was a little chewy as well. The tomatoes and the cucumbers were nicely done and so was the mash potatoes, however it just seemed like 4 different items that were all thrown onto a plate yet none of the 4 really matched up really well with the other food on the plate.
Overall, I was a little disappointed with the second night’s dinner. We ended up in the buffet restaurant afterwards and also had room service later in the evening. The food was either all a little too dry or the combination just wasn’t right. On this night, I give it a 2.5 out of 5.
